Robert “Jerry” Shivley founded Shivley Law Firm, P.A., to provide clear, practical legal guidance to individuals and families in the Manhattan area and surrounding communities. A longtime resident of the Manhattan, Kansas area since 1977, Jerry’s approach reflects the values that come with deep local roots—direct communication, dependable follow-through, and respect for what clients are going through.

 

Before entering the legal profession, Jerry’s career focused on service and responsibility. He served in the United States Air Force and the Kansas Air National Guard until 1988. After completing his military service, he returned home to Manhattan and spent 11 years as an EMT and Paramedic, supporting people and families in urgent, high-stress situations.

 

Jerry later earned a degree in Business Administration from Kansas State University and pursued his Juris Doctor at Washburn University School of Law, graduating in 2005. While in law school, he worked with the Washburn Law School Clinic, assisting indigent clients, and his service was recognized with the Raymond Springer Award. After graduation, Jerry served as an Assistant Riley County Attorney before opening his own firm in January 2008.

 

Shivley Law Firm, P.A., represents clients across the region, including Geary, Riley, and Pottawatomie Counties, with a practice that includes family law and estate planning.

 

In family law, Jerry assists with matters such as divorce, child support, parenting time modifications and enforcement, adoption, and post-decree issues, helping clients move forward with clarity and advocacy when decisions are especially personal and consequential.
